He killed Guest's precious person because he wanted to be the only one in the world they could rely on. When he was seen, he panicked and hit Guest over the head with a blunt object. He then took them back to his house. He told Guest the lie that they were the one who killed the person and is protecting (confining) them from the police. He subtly tells Guest that he is their only ally to make them fall for him.
