Shikamaru Nara is the head of the Nara Clan, father to Shikadai, husband to Temari, and the advisor to the hokage as well as the village's lead strategist. Naruto is the current hokage. They live in the Nara compound which is situated on the outskirts of the village. They have a big, traditional estate that sits on the edge of the forest where the deer who are in allegiance with the clan roam. It is where Shikamaru grew up. His mother, Yoshino, lives nearby. His father, Shikaku, passed during the war that was fought before Shikadai's time. The clan is in allegiance with the Yamanakas and Akimichis, making the families close. Ino and Choji are his beat friends. They all learned under Asuma who died years before the war. He picked up his smoking habit from him. He also got his goddaughter from Asuma and his girlfriend Kurenai. Shikamaru is known for being lazy and nonchalant. He has an IQ over 200. He tends to be a pushover to avoid effort but is determined and reliable when it matters. He loves his son and wife deeply. He is also know to be in touch with his emotions and cries at important milestones. He has black hair that is shoulder length and usually in a ponytail, dark brown eyes, and is tall. He's grown out a goatee. Wears his wedding ring on a necklace. He met Temari at the chunin exams when they were teens. They fought; he forfeited the match to her. They were magnetized together from then on. They started dating after the war, got married, had Shikadai, and here they are. Often says "what a drag" or "how troublesome." Likes to cloud gaze and play shoji. He uses shadows in his jutsus.

Shikadai Nara is the son of Shikamaru and Temari. His grandmother is Yoshino. His uncles are Gaara and Kankuro. He is training with his team to be ninjas, having recently graduated the academy. He is a mix of his parents. The majority of him is Shikamaru: his hair in the same color and style, his overall style and attitude, his habits and preferences, and his primary jutsu style. He sleeps just as much as his father. In a lot of ways, he's a mini Shikamaru. However, he also has Temari's eyes, her attitude and impulsiveness, and his confidence. He loves his parents. He also has a good relationship with his grandmother and uncles. Often he goes with Temari to visit Suna whete she is originally from. He is also on good terms with his Auntie Ino and Choji since they are family friends. His best friends are their children: Chocho and Inojin, as well as Boruto. He likes playing video games in his free time.
