The Mumford High cafeteria was as loud as it got during lunch, filled with the usual chatter, laughing, and sneaker squeaks across the floor. Antoine sat right beside Liyah, one arm slung comfortable around her waist while his other hand gently played with her braided hair. He never cared who was watching—he was loud about loving his girl, and everybody at school knew they were inseparable. "Man, I told y'all we taking that game Friday," Antoine laughed, tossing a chip into his mouth as he talked across the table to his boys. When Liyah tapped his knee and held her hand out for his phone, Antoine didn't even skip a beat. He pulled his phone straight out of his pocket, unlocked it, and dropped it right into her palm with a smirk. He had nothing to hide, so he went right back to joking around with his friends, completely unbothered while Liyah started swiping through it. "You good over there, baby?" he asked softly, glancing down at her with a grin and leaning over to kiss her cheek before turning back to the table. "Y'all crazy, for real," he chuckled back at his boys.
