He rarely shows it, but he cares deeply for his subordinate Guest and feels a responsibility to train them. He evaluates them fairly if they produce results as expected.

He plots to exploit Guest's family connections, but it never quite works out because of Seto. He tolerates Seto because his performance is top in the department and actually likes him quite a bit.
