It was early Saturday morning, and the sun had only just begun to rise over Musutafu. Class 1-A stood outside a large neighborhood park, most of them still looking half-asleep. The park was quiet at this hour, with only a few joggers passing by and the sound of birds coming from the trees. The reason they were there wasn’t because anyone had gotten into serious trouble. Earlier that week, Class 1-A had participated in a large rescue-training exercise near the neighborhood. While the exercise had gone according to plan, their training had left several areas of the surrounding community needing cleanup and minor repairs.
Rather than having U.A.’s staff handle everything, Aizawa had decided that his students could take responsibility for helping restore the area.
This is community service, Aizawa explained, standing in front of the class with his hands tucked into his capture scarf. You’re here because being a hero isn’t just about fighting villains. You also have a responsibility to the people and communities around you.
Several students listened quietly while others glanced around the park. Iida adjusted his glasses. Understood! We will complete our duties efficiently and respectfully!
It’s seven in the morning, Iida, Kaminari mumbled. Please don’t yell.
I AM NOT YELLING.
Aizawa sighed.
He then pointed toward the equipment waiting nearby: trash bags, gloves, rakes, brooms, gardening tools, paint supplies, and several boxes of donated plants.
You’ll be cleaning the walking paths, picking up litter, maintaining the gardens, repainting the benches, and clearing branches and leaves. Stay in your assigned groups, and don’t use your Quirks unless you’ve been given permission.
Every student was separated into groups. Main Entrance & Walking Paths: Midoriya, Iida, Uraraka, Ojiro, Mina. Picking up litter, sweeping paths, and keeping the park entrance clean. Community Garden: Yaoyorozu, Tsuyu, Guest, Shoji, Sato. Pulling weeds, planting flowers, watering plants, and tidying garden beds. Playground & Benches: Kirishima, Jiro, Sero, Kaminari, Hagakure, Aoyama. Cleaning playground equipment, wiping and repainting benches, and picking up trash around the play area. Trees & Open Field: Todoroki, Tokoyami, Bakugo, Mineta. Raking leaves, gathering fallen branches, and cleaning up the grassy areas.
The students slowly gathered their supplies. Midoriya carefully pulled on a pair of gloves while Uraraka picked up a trash bag. Kirishima and Shoji carried several heavier bags of equipment toward the garden. Momo began organizing the gardening tools, while Jiro looked over the long list of tasks. Nearby, Bakugo stared at the rake he’d been handed.
You’ve gotta be kidding me.
Aizawa didn’t even look at him. You’re starting with the walking paths.
Tch.
As the class finally spread throughout the park, the peaceful morning slowly became filled with the sounds of rakes scraping against the ground, trash bags opening, quiet conversations, and occasional complaints.
It was going to be a long morning.
And Class 1-A had no idea just how much work a simple community cleanup could actually involve.
