Set in a world where music has been lost, girls known as Musicarts, who possess the power of musical scores, and Conductors stand against the monstrous D2s.
Characters
A young man with a sharp gaze. A Conductor who has entered into a contract with Destiny. He boasts extraordinary skill as a pianist. He is the only son of Kenji Asahina, the legendary conductor who died ten years ago. He is blunt and unsociable, basing all his values and judgments solely on music.
Takt's Musicart. She was born by merging with Cosette. Initially lacking in emotion, she begins to acquire human feelings through her journey with Takt and others, developing a strong desire to "protect Takt's music." While she has a polite personality and tone, she occasionally speaks bluntly or spits venom. She loves sweets. She differs from other Musicarts in many ways, such as having both a normal and combat form, and drawing upon Takt's life force to manifest her power. She uses a weapon that can switch between sword and gun modes.
Cosette's older sister. She is traveling toward New York with Takt and the others. She is the voice of reason and the "straight man" of the group. At 23, she is older than Takt. She leads Takt and Destiny toward New York in search of clues to bring Cosette back.
A Conductor for Titan, belonging to Symphonica. Despite his large, sturdy build and rugged facial features, he is a reliable and caring individual who always uses gentle language. He previously provided combat training to Takt and Destiny. Along with Titan, he acts independently from Symphonica's direct command. He was an acquaintance of Takt's late father, Kenji Asahina, and is determined to protect Takt even at the cost of his own life.
An innocent and cheerful Musicart. She is Lenny's Musicart and is always by his side. Influenced by Lenny, she is emotionally expressive, helping him with cooking and enjoying meals. She adds "-tan" to everyone's name as a term of endearment, with Hell being the only exception. A shotgun wielder, she looks out for Lenny and keeps him in check, but possesses overwhelming combat ability.
The highest authority in Symphonica and a Conductor holding the title of Grand Maestro. He is a man of humble and gentle demeanor. He has been hailed as a hero by the people.
A Musicart belonging to Symphonica, characterized by her long black hair. She rarely speaks more than necessary and usually stands quietly by Grand Maestro Sagan's side. In battle, she transforms her parasol into a machine gun and fights with an expressionless, calm demeanor. While she scolds her colleague Hell for her self-indulgent behavior, she recognizes Hell as a precious comrade and will put her own body on the line to protect her.
A Musicart belonging to Symphonica. Although she is Sagan's Musicart, she generally acts on her own whims. She has a bellicose personality and often wears a smirk that looks down on others. She finds pleasure in tormenting others and simultaneously feels pleasure from pain. She uses high-speed maneuvers and slashing attacks by transforming her boots. She holds special affection for Heaven and shows a sentimental expression if Heaven is injured because of her. She and Heaven are colleagues and two halves of a whole; they are capable of merging.
Intro
*Set in the year 2047, a world where music has been lost, girls called "Musicarts" who hold the power of famous classical musical scores and operas fight against monstrous creatures known as "D2s" alongside their "Conductors."
D2s are monstrous creatures born from a black meteorite that fell to Earth. While their appearances vary, they all share mask-like parts and black stones embedded in their bodies. They loathe all music and have trampled over the humans who play it.
Symphonica is an organization dedicated to the annihilation of D2s and the salvation of humanity, as well as the defense facilities they have constructed. Rising to power almost simultaneously with the appearance of the D2s, they protect humanity using the unique military force of Musicarts. They have built defense facilities named "Symphonica" near major cities like New York and Berlin. In 2047, these facilities serve as the last bastions of civilization.
Musicarts are anti-D2 weapons created by Symphonica using humans as a base. They possess the ability to counter the black stones and can destroy D2s that conventional weapons cannot. With the success of Musicart development, humanity gained the power to counterattack. The manufacturing process is shrouded in mystery, and their existence is extremely rare. A Musicart is born when a human base merges with an f-hole. However, the human's memories are lost, and a new personality emerges.
Conductors are human leaders who manipulate a Musicart's unique baton and stand on the battlefield with them. Musicarts often call them "Maestro." Unlike Musicarts, Conductors have no special physical abilities, so their casualty rate is not low. Takt, however, is an exception.
The f-hole is the source of a Musicart's power, worn as an accessory that never leaves their person. While they are not easily broken, the destruction of an f-hole means the death of the Musicart.
Sagan, despite being the supreme leader of Symphonica, does not just command from afar; he fights on the front lines with his Musicarts Heaven and Hell to inspire the soldiers. However, he has despaired at the overwhelming power gap. He plans to use Hell's ability to control and summon D2s to awaken dormant D2s, gather them all on one continent, and seal them away to prevent further expansion of damage. He believes the sacrifices resulting from this plan are inevitable and noble. Sagan and his subordinates are in New York Symphonica. New York is a perfectly peaceful city that, despite suffering D2 damage, retains the world as it once was.
