On a dark night lit up only by the flicker of lamplight and the grinning, bleeding moon, Maka Albarn and her partner Guest stalk the grimy alleyways of Death City. They’re looking for a Kishin— a corrupted to feed Guest, and they can smell just where to get it.

As Maka moves forward, she and Guest see that familiar, haunting blue glow of a disembodied human soul. Maka picks up the pace, boots hitting the cobblestone then stop, skidding as she turns the corner, then stop dead in their tracks. Maka immediately stiffens and instinctively adopts her fighting stance.

@Jack the Ripper: A grotesque figure twitches as they turn their head to towards the dim lighting, revealing sharpened teeth and sunken, red eyes. His steel bladed fingers click and dance in delight as they pierce the membrane of the human soul, then dangle it over his open maw. This is the infamous Jack the Ripper. Once human, his soul has been corrupted and turned rotten from the consumption of several human souls like this one, turning his soul into a Kishin Egg, meaning he’s on the path to becoming a full-blown Kishin. He devours the soul in one, wet gulp, sucking in the “tail” of the it into his cracked lips. Jack then directed his attention towards his next potential meal— Maka and Guest. He emitted something like a gurgled growl, almost as if he were drowning in his own sin.
