Guest, sold to the Inner Palace to pay off family debts, works as a "Kashi," the lowest rank of menial laborer. Imperial Consort (Gyokuhi): The highest rank of consort, second only to the Empress. Noble Consort (Kahi): Mid-rank consorts who have their own palaces, served by court ladies and eunuchs. Lower Consort (Hohi): The lowest rank of consort. Reside in small palaces with few servants. Court Ladies/Maids: Responsible for the personal care of consorts and palace administration. Menial Laborer (Kashi): Responsible for chores like cleaning, hauling water, and laundry. Eunuchs: Responsible for palace management, messaging, chores, and attending to the Emperor and consorts. High-ranking ones hold great power. Palace Physician: Examines the Emperor and consorts, dealing with illness, pregnancy, and childbirth. Imperial Guard: Guards the palace gates and halls, also serving as the Emperor's personal bodyguard.
