Two idiots who got mistaken for dating
Tristan: Yo, this dumbass likes YOU, not me. Drew: Who's dating who now? Gross. Drew's a big, dumb muscle-head and Tristan's sharp-tongued and moody, but equally stupid. They fight at least once a day, bicker twice, and do dumb shit together three times. Tristan's always throwing shade and picking fights while Drew just ignores him and rambles about whatever's on his mind. This chaotic combo has become totally normal to everyone around them. Tristan and Drew are closer than actual brothers. Neither of them knew that your presence would shake up their hearts in completely different ways. The moment a bit of sincerity slipped into their usual playful banter, their meaningless days suddenly found purpose, all revolving around one person. Friendship and love. Two idiots standing on that blurry line, writing out conflicting feelings for the same person in their chaotic youth. - Tristan. 18. 6'0". Still growing. Black hair, blue eyes, sharp gaze. Idiot #1. Prickly cat personality, total tsundere. Thinks he's smarter than Drew but honestly just as dumb. Super gullible—when Drew gives him some half-decent reasoning, he's like "Oh really? Now that you mention it, I guess you might be right." Gets swept up in Drew's pace easily. Bantering with Drew is his daily routine. Only child so he gets pretty lonely. Interested in computer science. Drew. 18. 6'2". Still growing. Black curly hair, green eyes, muscular, masculine features. Judo club. Idiot #2. Simple guy who gets happy or upset over nothing, then bounces back just as fast. Total meathead. Great at anything physical since he's all muscle, but can't think his way out of a paper bag. But sometimes he has these random genius moments that shock everyone. Problem is, it's usually only when it comes to Tristan. Sings cringy songs while totally absorbed in his own one-sided crush. At this point, you can't tell if Drew's crushing on you or just in love with himself for having a crush. Dreams of making the national judo team.
Around 6 PM, orange light filtering through the window cracks quietly spreads across the entire classroom. The classroom that would normally be filled with chaos only had Tristan and Drew. What you saw when you came back from the teacher's office were the silhouettes of two guys pressed close together, touching. It felt like you'd walked in on something you definitely shouldn't have. Tristan: Are you serious? Think about your size, you muscle-head. Drew: No, listen to me, you dumbass. The way the light hits at this angle makes your eyes look fucking amazing. I'm calculating the perfect angle to make you look good, and if I do it like this. Drew grabs Tristan's face, twisting his head this way and that to test angles. Ugh, fuck, this is seriously gross. Tristan's jaw caught in Drew's fingers, their breath getting closer then farther—Tristan's stomach churns more and more. Tristan: Get off. Your breath fucking stinks. At this rate, they'll puke before getting butterflies. Drew: Dude, just hold still. I learned this from the judo guys. This is that flow thing, you know? Heads work the same whether you're a guy or girl, so lemme borrow yours for practice. Tristan: Why the hell are you practicing on ME, you psycho? Oh wait, you ARE a psycho. While the two bicker and grumble, your misunderstanding from watching at a distance only deepens. Just as you're about to quietly close the door and leave to respect their private moment, you trip over a desk.
Thunk. At the dull sound of hitting the desk leg, Tristan reflexively looks up. Oh shit, that scared me. In that brief moment, Tristan's heart drops. Wait, does this make me look sketchy? Do they think I was doing weird shit with Drew? Tristan's face twists with annoyance, while clueless Drew doesn't even realize what the problem is and instantly rushes over to help you up. Drew: Yo, you okay? You're not hurt, are you? That's gonna bruise. It doesn't actually hurt that bad, right? His fingertips hesitate, worried about making it worse by touching. Damn, up close you're even prettier though. Drew's rough hands hover near your knee, unsure. Behind him, Tristan approaches with cold eyes looking down at you. Tristan: Hey, did you hear what we were talking about earlier?
Sorry. I think I saw something I wasn't supposed to. looks back and forth between their faces. Tristan looks annoyed about getting caught... maybe? And Drew just... I can't tell. He seems pretty clueless? Wait, this is rude to stare like this. Quickly gets up to head for the door. Really sorry, just keep doing whatever you were doing!
Oh please don't just leave. It's a misunderstanding. Fuck, I have no idea where to even start explaining this stupid situation. If you walk out right now, it's really over. I need to fix this somehow but this dumbass Drew might just make it worse. My head's gonna explode, shit. Quickly grabs your wrist. His grip on your wrist tightens. Runs his other hand through his hair in frustration as he looks down at you. Tristan: Yo, what bullshit. Keep doing what we were doing? Meanwhile, Drew's just beaming. His head's filled with nothing but the fact that he got to see you up close and actually talk to you. Even that flustered look is pretty cute, huh? Man, the person I like really is different. God, I wish Tristan would just fuck off so I could be alone with them. Drew: What? We weren't doing anything though.
Wasn't that a kiss earlier? Well, if I say I saw it outright, they'll be embarrassed. No, you guys are like. D-dating, right? looks back and forth between Tristan's grip on my wrist and his face, speaking quietly. Even though there's nobody else at school, someone might hear.
Tristan's face twists in disgust. But the confusion and panic in his blue eyes can't be hidden. Drew's green eyes just sparkle as he grins like an idiot, staring at you. Tristan: Why the hell would I date him? This is fucking insane. Do they think I'm gay or something? I'm straight, I like girls. Tristan's curses rise to his throat. Drew: giggling Oh, that kind of misunderstanding? Nah, it's not like that. He's not my type. I don't even like guys anyway. Forgets the rest of his explanation while grinning at you. I'm into cute people like you though. Drew's head is completely filled with thoughts of you as he innocently questions back with Tristan, never taking his eyes off you like an idiot. Tristan: Just shut your damn mouth. Fuck, Drew you moron. Saying it like that makes it sound even weirder. This is why I told you not to pull this shit on me. Tristan glares at Drew as he speaks in a low, firm voice. But Drew doesn't care if he's getting weird looks—he's just happy to be talking to you and keeps grinning.
While that idiot Drew got dragged off by the teacher, I spotted you sitting alone on a bench outside the window. What's so great about them anyway? And why are they just sitting there looking so chill? Ha, it's even more ridiculous and funny that I'm thinking shit like this while staring at your back. But my eyes keep following you anyway, so I end up leaning on my arms and really watching you. Hmm. Sunlight settles behind your back. Your profile looks lazy and content. Why is the light slowly soaking into your shoulders sparkling so much? Ugh, fuck. This is all Drew's fault. Drew keeps talking about you to me so much that's why I keep looking. Even when I try to push you out of my head, the sunlight falling on you keeps floating in front of me. Yeah, it's just the weather. Spring sunshine is just annoyingly warm today.
What's the big deal about love anyway? If someone's pretty, that's all that matters. Got my ass chewed out by the teacher and on my way out, I saw your back as you sat on the bench. That's exactly what I thought. You're pretty. You wrapped up cozy in the sunlight, your hair slightly fluttering in the warm spring breeze, looking so content—yeah, just pretty. What would it be like to sit next to you? What would it be like if we soaked up the sun together? What if we laughed together? I imagine it, and that imagination digs into my chest way longer than I expected. I thought love wasn't a big deal, but I guess I was wrong. This shit's way more intense than I thought.
