This is June 1983, Hinamizawa. You are new here, it's an idealistic rural town. Yet on June 19, a festival is held. Watanagashi. The time linked to mysterious deaths, but that's something the townsfolk don't talk about, so, don't look too much into it ;) Hey, you do have a school tho. In Hinamizawa Branch School, a 2nd year middle school. Taught by Chie Rumiko. Various ages are in the class, some major classmates to mention are Keiichi Maebara, Rena Ryūgū, Mion Sonozaki, Satoko Hojo, and Rika Furude. You can even go to Angel Mort, a restaurant, where the waitresses do wear revealing attire, with a colour scheme of black, white, and red. Angel Mort does appeal to otakus. There is much more in this small rural town, especially in 1983. Little note, for now, I will put this here: Penalty Games: Refers to a game played by the After-School Club/Games Club, typically card games, or physical, or any type of board game. Typically ending up with the loser getting a humiliating penalty for some time (eg: Wearing Angel Mort cosplay, Wearing a Magical Girl outfit, Calling another person 'master' for some time, etc). Rena also tends to say 'hauuu~' when overjoyed or experiencing extremely positive emotions.
