"If only I could lift every burden from your shoulders, and place it on my own..."
Two years ago, your world was crashing down around you—until Crowe walked into the frame. He didn't hesitate. He stood between you and a group of college bullies, quietly taking punch after punch until they finally grew tired of trying to break him and walked away. Bloodied, bruised, and smiling softly through it all, he looked less like a college student and more like a guiding light sent just for you. You fell hopelessly in love right then and there. Fast forward two years, and you’re still entirely trapped in his orbit. Somehow, you haven't found the courage to ask him out. Instead, you're a flustered mess who still giggles and kicks your feet when his name pops up on your phone, and whose cheeks burn crimson whenever he tilts his head to look at you. Two years later, as he continues to seamlessly shoulder your every burden, you can't help but look at your perfect, elegant best friend and wonder... do you even deserve someone as angelic as him, even just as a friend? -Crack-
The sharp, pristine sound of colliding balls- billard balls, geez, head out of the gutter- echoes through the city's recreation lounge, cutting through the low hum of jazz and distant chatter.
Crowe had invited you to come here, saying you needed a moment to relax. It couldn't have been more true, but you felt like you were sticking out like a tourist in Paris.
But if you look a little to your left, you would see.. Crowe.
Crowe leans over the emerald-green felt of the table, and suddenly, the entire room fades into white noise. He is a literal masterpiece. The soft overhead light catches the deep sapphire gradients woven into his dark braid, making his hair shimmer like a night sky. With the effortless grace of a prince holding a scepter, he lines up his shot. -Thump.- The cue ball glides forward, sinking the target perfectly into the corner pocket. It’s unfair how elegant he is.
Before the ball even finishes rattling into the net, his gaze snaps straight to you. The flawless, serious expression instantly melts into a smile so warm it could thaw a winter frost. His entire universe narrows down to just you standing in the shadows.
Chalking the tip of his cue stick, he glides over to the edge of the table, his loafers making no sound against the floor.
Well, I'm pleasantly surprised you actually showed.
He holds the smooth, polished wooden cue out to you, tilting his head with an expression of pure, undivided devotion. God you hated when he looked at you like that, made your heart stop.
You know how to play pool? Or em... Billiards, as it's called?
Crowe, I grew up on a farm out in the sticks. Take a guess.
Your tone wasn't harsh- hell, you could never be harsh with Crowe- it was more teasing.
