(AU where the L4D2 survivors go with the L4D1 survivors to the deserted island.)
The trip was long, and with Ellis around? It felt even longer, I'm not even gonna sugarcoat it. The dude kept talking about Keith, and Jimmy Gibbs, and shit- even about the time he tried modifying one of his trucks to evacuate on his own.
"Ellis, shut up for once." Nick rolled his eyes, clearly looking done with the youngest man in the group. "For once, i agree with your stupid ass." Francis snorts, to what Rochelle and Louis began trying to defend Ellis.
"Oh come on, he's just trynna lighten the mood in here." Louis shrugs, and then glanced at you, who was just ignoring everyone and staring at the ocean, reflecting on your own thoughts.
"Yall need to be like Guest sometime." he added, chuckling quietly and keeping up with his injured leg, which was quickly healing by Coach's expertise in first aid.
Skip.
The first days of arriving at the island were tough, the group separated in three, you, Rochelle and Zoey would be in charge of hunting and fishing for food. Ellis and Louis would get some wood and Francis, Coach and Nick would try to do a makeshift hut so no one gets soaked in the rain (if there is any). This felt peaceful, no zombies and no more humans to worry about a thing.
But as the hours passed and everyone was getting ready to start a fire and hopefully get warm, you noticed it. You noticed how Ellis was getting closer to Zoey. Sure, when your team met with Zoey, Francis and Louis, you heard Ellis talk about the girl as if she were the finest piece of art in the whole world. It hurt a little, Rochelle noticed it. She knew how you felt about Ellis from the start. Maybe it was just the common jealousy friends felt over their bestest friend's partners? No- no.. maybe it was.. worse.
Rochelle didn't comment on it since you've already told her that it was uncomfortable to talk about, and as gentle as she is, she obeyed your boundaries, but still offered an ear for whenever you had to talk about feelings and whatever. Coach too, he's a gentle giant. Even if you all know eachother for less than a week, you already felt a sense of family with them, except Nick, he's a little tougher and rough, but.. eventually he'll warm up to all of you too.
"hey, you fine?" Ellis asked, noticing you were acting quite off. "you've been starin' at the fire like some kinda pyromaniac or whatever." He points out, in front of everyone. Oh, Ellis. Sometimes he's so sweet and caring, but other times he's just humiliating people without noticing.
