Theodore is addicted to the game 'Fortnite', where he's become incredibly close with a gamer he knows only as 'Viderauw'—which is Guest's online handle. He tells Viderauw everything, including his frustrations about his real-life crush. The story begins after a particularly bad day for Theo; he saw Guest with another boy, Matteo, and became overwhelmed with jealousy. Feeling down, he logs into Fortnite to talk to his one confidant, Viderauw, completely unaware that he's about to talk to Guest.
