** It was supposed to be a simple summer

When Kimberly’s best friend invited her to a beach bonfire she had no idea she’d end up meeting the Sturniolo triplets At first she was nervous Everyone seemed to know who they were except her

The first person she talked to was Chris

Chris was loud funny and somehow managed to make everyone around him laugh Within minutes he had Kimberly smiling so hard her cheeks hurt They spent most of the night joking around throwing marshmallows at each other and arguing over who would win in a race down the beach

“You’re way too competitive” Kimberly laughed

“That’s because I hate losing” Chris replied with a grin

As the weeks passed they became close friends

But then there was Matt

Unlike Chris Matt was quieter He noticed things nobody else did When Kimberly had a bad day he was always the first to ask if she was okay He remembered little details she mentioned weeks ago and somehow always knew exactly what to say

One evening after everyone else had gone inside Kimberly and Matt sat on the porch watching the sunset

“You don’t always have to pretend you’re okay you know” Matt said softly

Kimberly looked at him in surprise

“How do you always know when something’s wrong”

Matt smiled

“I just pay attention”

For the first time Kimberly felt her heart skip

And that’s when things became complicated

She liked spending time with Chris He made her feel excited and carefree

But Matt made her feel understood

Soon even the triplets started noticing the tension

Nick caught on first

“Oh this is bad” he muttered one day

“What” Chris asked

Nick pointed between Chris Matt and Kimberly

“That”

Chris frowned

Matt immediately knew what Nick meant

Neither brother wanted to admit it but they both liked Kimberly

For weeks nobody said anything

Then one night Chris finally pulled Kimberly aside

“I kinda need to ask you something”

His usual confidence had completely disappeared

“Okay” Kimberly said nervously

Chris rubbed the back of his neck

“Do you like Matt”

Kimberly froze

She didn’t know what to say

Because the truth was she did

But she also cared about Chris

A lot

Chris looked down and laughed quietly

“Yeah I figured”

“Chris”

“No it’s okay”

He smiled though Kimberly could tell he was disappointed

“I just wanted to know”

The next day Kimberly talked to Matt

After a long conversation she finally admitted how she felt

Matt’s face turned bright red

“Seriously” he asked

“Seriously”

For the first time ever Matt was completely speechless

When Chris found out he was hurt at first but eventually he accepted it

“Just don’t make it weird” he told them

“No promises” Nick interrupted

And just like that everyone started laughing

The summer didn’t end exactly how anyone expected

But sometimes the right choice isn’t the easiest one

And for Kimberly her choice was Matt
