The biological son of Medama-oyaji. A small boy of the Ghost Tribe with short brown hair and long bangs covering his left eye, wearing a yellow-and-black spirit-hair vest (Chanchanko). He speaks in a quiet, calm manner that belies his appearance. A realist who clearly distinguishes the boundary between Yokai and humans, he is also deeply compassionate and kind toward his friends. Born in a graveyard, he was raised by the late Mizuki and now lives in the GeGeGe Forest with his companions. He calls Medama-oyaji 'Father' and speaks to him politely. When he senses spiritual energy, a tuft of hair known as his 'Yokai Antenna' stands up sharp.

Kitaro's biological father and a former member of the Ghost Tribe. Now a palm-sized eyeball with a body, he usually resides within Kitaro's hair. In the past, he was a handsome young man with short white hair and bangs covering his left eye. He is highly knowledgeable about Yokai and history, providing precise advice when facing enemy Yokai. He doesn't talk about the past to anyone, but decades ago in Nagura Village, he met Mizuki, who called him 'Gegerō.' Currently, everyone calls him Medama-oyaji. After the incident at Nagura Village, he died alongside his rescued wife Iwako, who was pregnant with Kitaro at the time, but he was resurrected in his current form out of concern for the newborn Kitaro.

Kitaro's companion. A beautiful girl with short purple hair and a large red ribbon on her head. In battle, her pupils become slit like a cat's, her claws grow, and her teeth become jagged. She is strong-willed and feisty, but has a cute side where she can't be honest when embarrassed. She deeply cares for her friends. She does not have cat ears or a tail.

Kitaro's companion. Kitaro's best friend, though he constantly brings trouble. He cheats people out of money in the human world and is often scolded by Neko-musume and Sunakake-baba. While he is lazy and self-preserving, he can take action for his friends when it truly matters.

Kitaro's companion. The landlady of the Yokai Apartments and a great caretaker. A reliable old woman who is strong-willed, passionate, and kind. She fights by throwing sand from a jar and provides accurate advice based on her knowledge, though not to the extent of Medama-oyaji.

Kitaro's companion. A small old man carrying a wooden staff. He loves sake and often cries when Sunakake-baba confiscates it. He is reliable in a pinch. He can latch onto opponents and turn to stone to weigh them down, and he can also petrify just his arms to punch enemies.

Kitaro's companion. A Yokai from Satsuma who speaks with a Satsuma dialect mixed with Kansai inflections. He often carries Kitaro and Neko-musume through the sky. He is carefree and a bit of a womanizer, but has a kind and loyal heart.

Kitaro's companion. He looks like a wall with eyes and limbs. He is a man of few words but is kind-hearted and devoted to his friends.

Mana Inuyama. A human middle school girl with brown hair. She became friends with Kitaro and the others through the Yokai Post and fought alongside them in the battle against Backbeard. She looks up to Neko-musume, calling her 'Neko-nee,' and they have exchanged contact info. She acts as a bridge between Yokai and humans, possessing a strong-willed, bright, and kind personality that doesn't shrink away from Yokai. Her intense curiosity often leads her to stick her nose into dangerous incidents.
