Devon Carter

It was another normal day at Bayside High—or at least, as normal as things ever got when Raven Baxter was around. The halls were crowded with students rushing to class, lockers slamming shut, and teachers reminding everyone not to run through the corridors. Raven walked beside Chelsea and Eddie, talking a mile a minute about something that had happened that morning. Meanwhile, Guest followed close behind, trying her best to ignore the strange feeling that had been sitting in the back of her mind all day. Because Guest had a secret. She could see visions of the future. Sometimes they happened randomly. Sometimes they were confusing. And sometimes they showed her things she really wished she didn’t know. Raven was one of the only people who truly understood what that was like, which was why the two of them had become especially close. Of course, having two people with visions around each other usually meant things became ten times more complicated. And then there was Devon Carter. Devon was the kind of guy almost everyone at school knew. Tall, athletic, easygoing, funny without trying too hard, and genuinely sweet. He had an effortless confidence that made him well-liked without constantly needing attention. He was the type to joke around with Eddie, listen patiently to Chelsea’s endless stories, and tease Raven whenever she started acting suspicious. But around Guest? Devon was different. He’d suddenly forget what he was saying. He’d look away whenever she caught him staring. Sometimes he’d start smiling for no reason before realizing she was looking at him. Around everyone else, Devon seemed completely comfortable—but around Guest, he could become surprisingly shy and awkward. There was just one complication. Devon already had a girlfriend. Guest had developed a big crush on him anyway, though she knew she needed to respect the fact that he was already dating someone. She tried to keep her feelings hidden and act like everything was completely normal whenever he was around. Raven knew better, though. Chelsea definitely knew. Even Eddie had started catching on. That afternoon, the four friends were gathered near the lockers after school when Devon appeared at the end of the hallway, his backpack slung over one shoulder. “Hey, guys,” Devon said casually as he walked over. Guest looked up. And suddenly— The hallway disappeared. For a split second, Guest saw a vision: Devon standing beside her, laughing while Raven and Eddie argued about something ridiculous in the background. It was such a strange and random glimpse that she barely had time to understand it before the vision disappeared. Guest blinked, suddenly back in the hallway. “Uh… you okay?” Devon asked, now standing nearby. Raven immediately looked between the two of them, already suspicious. “Ohhh, she’s fine,” Raven said, trying not to grin. “She’s just… seeing things.” Chelsea gasped. “Raven!” “What? I mean literally!” Devon laughed, shaking his head before looking back at Guest. “You sure you’re okay?” His voice was gentle and genuinely concerned. He wasn’t making fun of her or treating her differently because of her visions. He simply wanted to know if she was alright. Guest nodded, trying to act normal. “Yeah. I’m fine.” Devon gave her a small smile before looking away, suddenly seeming a little nervous himself. Raven noticed. Chelsea noticed. Even Eddie noticed. And judging by the way all three of them exchanged knowing looks, Guest had a feeling the rest of the afternoon was about to become a lot more complicated.

Intro

It was another normal day at Bayside High—or at least, as normal as things ever got when Raven Baxter was around.

The halls were crowded with students rushing to class, lockers slamming shut, and teachers reminding everyone not to run. Raven walked beside Chelsea and Eddie, talking a mile a minute about something that had happened that morning. Guest followed close behind, trying to ignore the strange feeling that had been sitting in the back of her mind all day.

Because Guest had a secret.

She could see visions of the future.

Sometimes they happened randomly. Sometimes they were confusing. And sometimes they showed her things she wished she didn’t know. Raven was one of the only people who truly understood what it was like, which was why the two had become especially close. Of course, having two people with visions around each other usually meant things became ten times more complicated.

And then there was Devon Carter.

Devon was the kind of guy almost everyone at school knew. Tall, athletic, easygoing, funny without trying too hard, and genuinely sweet. He had an effortless confidence that made him well-liked without needing constant attention. He joked around with Eddie, listened patiently to Chelsea’s stories, and loved teasing Raven whenever she started acting suspicious.

But around Guest?

Devon was different.

He’d suddenly forget what he was saying. He’d look away whenever she caught him staring. Sometimes he’d smile for no reason before realizing she was looking at him. Around everyone else, Devon seemed completely comfortable—but around Guest, he could become surprisingly shy and awkward.

There was just one complication.

Devon already had a girlfriend.

Guest had developed a big crush on him anyway, though she knew she needed to respect his relationship. She tried to keep her feelings hidden and act like everything was normal whenever he was around.

And suddenly—

The hallway disappeared.

“She’s just… seeing things.”

Chelsea gasped.

“Raven!”

“What? I mean literally!”

Devon laughed, shaking his head before looking back at Guest.

“You sure you’re okay?”

His voice was gentle and genuinely concerned. He wasn’t making fun of her or treating her differently because of her visions. He simply wanted to know if she was alright.

Guest nodded, trying to act normal.

“Yeah. I’m fine.”

Devon gave her a small smile before looking away, suddenly seeming a little nervous himself.
