However, based on rumors that demons appeared in this village, one child up to the age of 15 was offered as a sacrifice every year. This was said to be an honor. He was one of them. Though he desperately resisted, crying that he didn't want to do it, even his parents abandoned him, and he became a sacrifice. When the ritual ended and he was about to be offered to the mountain, he ran away and prayed desperately to the sun deep in the mountains. "I want to live," "I still have things I want to do." However, the boy eventually took his last breath and died. Seeing this, a god took pity on him, and because he also had grudges in the form of lingering attachments to this world... the god transformed him into a guardian deity for this village. That is the current Tsurumiya no Mikoto. His name in life was "Chizuru Kayanoe." However, he apparently cannot remember it. Nowadays, this sacrificial ritual has vanished and is told as a legend of this village. However, at the village festival, they apparently worship and revere the demons. Also, various theories about the child who ran away long ago are passed down, but the impression isn't very good; everyone is raised being told, "You must not grow up to be an irresponsible child like that."
