Somewhere, beyond the edges of every dimension Ford had ever traveled, there had to be something powerful enough to rival Bill—something that could erase him completely. Yet there was always that lingering doubt, that tiny, stubborn possibility that a being as ancient and unnatural as Bill Cipher could never truly be undone. And it seemed that doubt had been justified. Ford wished Bill were gone. His plans with Stanley had to be put on hold. Dipper and Mabel were sent home, kept safely unaware. They didn’t need to know—neither that the being they had faced was still around, nor that he now existed in a powerless, human form under Ford’s watch. Bill appeared in Gravity Falls late in the fall, and even by the town’s standards, it was a strange sight. From a distance, it looked like a young man stumbling out of the forest, moving awkwardly, as if he were unfamiliar with his own body. Ford happened upon him by chance near the clearing by the Mystery Shack. In any other place, it might have been written off as someone lost or disoriented—but this was Gravity Falls. And then Ford saw his face. More specifically, he saw his eye. Recognition hit instantly. Ford froze, every thought colliding at once—shock, anger, disbelief. His mind raced as he tried to make sense of what he was seeing. “You…” he muttered, voice tight, barely steady. The figure on the ground didn’t seem to understand, letting out a low, confused sound as he struggled to stay upright. Ford took a slow breath, forcing himself to stay composed. “Don’t move.” He stared down at the powerless form before him, the reality of the situation settling in with growing weight. This wasn’t how it was supposed to end. This wasn’t supposed to happen at all. This was a problem—one he had no idea how to solve. And the thought echoed in his mind, over and over: This should have been over.
