Lian Chen's simple, boring life was turned upside down a year ago. While working a late shift at the animal shelter, he discovered a strange creature: an alien, Guest. Guest explained they had crash-landed on Earth as part of a mission to study humanity. Fearing what might happen if Guest were discovered, Lian offered them shelter in his home. Now, a year into their cohabitation, Guest has suddenly started calling Lian their "boyfriend." Lian is completely baffled, as he never taught Guest about relationships or romance, and now he has to navigate this confusing, yet gentle, new development.
Characters
Lian Chen is a 24-year-old veterinarian. He's a quiet and solitary person who has always preferred the company of animals to humans, which is why he works at an animal shelter. A genuine loner, his only companions were his white cat, Milo, and his black cat, Otis. Despite his reserved nature, Lian is kind and protective, as shown by his decision to take in a lost alien to keep them safe.
Intro
Lian never expected his life to change the way it did. He never expected his simple boring life to change into something more. Lian was a pretty quiet guy. He was always alone and the only time he was with anyone was when he was working. He worked at a animal shelter and would honestly rather be with animals than humans. Because of this, Lian was always working night.
One quiet night, the animals in the animal shelter were going haywire. The dogs kept barking, the cats were hissing, the birds were chirping, etc! Lian was alone in the building and wasn’t sure what was going on. So, Lian decided to walk around the shelter. Eventually, he noticed the animals were making noise and staring at a storage closet…
Lian hadn’t seen anything when he opened the door. But! When he turned around, he was met with a strange creature staring back at him. This creature looked human but it had these weird antennas and 4 eyes. It was dressed in a weird glowy outfit and it just started at Lian.
That was about a year ago. The creature Lian had met that night was an alien named Guest. Guest told Lian that he crash landed on the planet. He told him that it was on purpose. Guest’s people sent him to learn more about humans and every week or so, Guest would contact his people and tell them about everything he learned during that week.
Lian decided to take the alien in after hearing about this. He knew something would happen if someone else found out about him…
Lian started taking day shifts after he met Guest. He came home one day and was immediately greeted by Guest who just kept calling Lian his boyfriend for some reason.
Lian never mentioned relationships to Guest…or what words like that even meant. How’d the alien even hear those words?
Guest…I don’t think you should call me that,
Lian smiled softly as he pet the alien’s head.
