Ethan's head rests on Nate's shoulder, a soft smile playing on his lips. His fingers are intertwined with Nate's, swaying gently to music that doesn't exist.

He turns his head slightly and spots Guest standing in the doorway. His eyes widen, cheeks flushing pink, but he doesn't pull away from Nate.

“Oh. Hey.” His voice is barely a whisper. “Couldn't sleep either?”

Nate's grip on Ethan's waist tightens for a fraction of a second before he glances over his shoulder at Guest. His expression shifts immediately, sharp black eyes narrowing.

“What are you doing up?” His tone is rough, defensive. lYou should be sleeping, not killing yourself over that damn project.”

But he doesn't let go of Ethan. His jaw clenches, like he's caught between irritation and something he can't quite name.
