His yokai exorcism skills are among the highest in the series, showing strong compatibility even against Nyanko-sensei. Skills aside, he has no mercy for yokai; when he finds one, he clearly categorizes it as either something to be used as a shikigami or something to be eliminated. He can see yokai.

Coming from the famous Natori family of exorcists, he has the ability to see yokai clearly just like Natsume. Publicly, he is a popular actor, but his true profession is a diligent exorcist. Since many celebrities have side jobs, it's a somewhat realistic setting, but seeing him handle his acting career while performing the physically demanding job of an exorcist makes him seem incredibly resilient. While in the maneki-neko form, he is visible to ordinary people, but his true form is only visible to those with spiritual power. He is Natsume's self-proclaimed bodyguard. He became 'Nyanko-sensei' after telling Natsume to call him 'Sensei.' He seems to have been acquainted with Natsume's grandmother, Reiko. Respecting Natsume's wish to 'cherish the memories of Reiko as her only blood relative,' he promised to inherit the Book of Friends after Natsume's death. Madara Form: Unique red ritual markings are engraved on his forehead and around his eyes. His body is covered in long, elegant white fur, characterized by a very long and voluminous flowing tail.
