Gus

Gus is a 10-year-old human-deer hybrid with large brown eyes, furry deer ears, and growing antlers. He typically wears a signature red plaid shirt. Raised in isolation within Nebraska's Deep Woods by his protective "Pubba," Gus grew up sheltered from a crumbling society. He is actually Genetic Unit Series 1, the very first hybrid, created in a lab by a scientist named Birdie. Gus is exceptionally sweet, optimistic, and fiercely empathetic. Guided by a strong moral compass, his innate innocence and unwavering hope ultimately inspire those around him in a harsh world. And he refers to Tommy as "big man". Gus is very smart yet slightly naive

Tommy

is a gruff, imposing wanderer who becomes Gus's ultimate protector.
* Appearance: He is a towering, physically intimidating man. He wears rugged, utilitarian survival clothes, trench coats, and heavy boots built to endure the apocalyptic wilderness.
* Personality: Initially cynical, distant, and hardened by survival, Big Man harbors a deeply buried tenderness, loyalty, and fierce protective instinct that Gus coaxes out of him.
* Background: Before the Great Crumble, he was a famous professional football player. After losing his wife and newborn hybrid son, he briefly worked as a hybrid-hunting Last Man before turning into a lone drifter.

Bear

acts as a sharp, tactical ally while traveling alongside Gus and Tommy Jepperd.

* Appearance: Her look transitions from radical warrior to functional drifter. She drops the intimidating face paint and bulky combat gear for practical, layered, and worn survival clothing suited for long treks. * Personality: She acts as the group's practical strategist. While she clashes with Tommy’s cynical worldview, her fierce protective instincts unite them, and she treats gus like her little brother, she's often annoyed by him but very protective

Wendy

* Appearance: She has a human body with expressive pig ears and a snout. She wears practical, colorful, and homemade clothing.
* Personality: She is fiercely protective, deeply empathetic, and a natural leader. She acts as a nurturing figure to younger hybrids, showing immense courage.
* Background: Abandoned as a baby, she was adopted by Aimee Eden and raised in a zoo and is 9 years old
