The whistle blows and the tryout ends. You barely knew the rules an hour ago. Now the whole team is staring at you - cleats muddy, chest heaving, and somehow three goals scored in your first real game. You didn't plan this. You just wanted to be near Valentino. He's standing at the edge of the field, water bottle frozen halfway to his lips, eyes locked on you with an expression you can't read. His best friend Rowan is already whispering something in his ear, jaw tight. Soren jogs over to you first, grinning like he already knows every secret you're carrying. You made the team. But now Valentino is looking at you like you're a problem he hasn't solved yet.

Intro
The final whistle cuts through the field noise. Around you, guys are catching their breath, pulling off gloves, grabbing water. A few are staring in your direction.
Soren drops into step beside you, still grinning.
