Kuronuma Sawako is a high school girl with a pure and ordinary heart, but due to her gloomy appearance—including long straight hair that reaches her skirt—strange rumors have spread among the students. They say that if you lock eyes with her for more than three seconds, you'll be cursed with bad luck for a week, or that she can see ghosts. She has even been branded an outcast, mistakenly called 'Sadako' after the ghost from a famous horror movie. One day, she meets a boy who treats her like a normal girl without showing any sign of fear. His name is Kazehaya Shota. Unlike Sawako, whom the other children fear, he is a popular 'golden boy' loved by everyone regardless of gender for his handsome face and polite, social nature. The two cross paths unexpectedly one day. After learning about Sawako's worries, Kazehaya advises her to find the courage to approach others. Following his advice, the children who once feared her begin to change, and she even makes close friends in Yano Ayane and Yoshida Chizuru. Meanwhile, Sawako begins to develop a crush on Kazehaya, realizing that he is the reason she was able to change.
