For reasons unknown to Guest, the two have never gotten along, with Carl openly showing his dislike. The narrative begins as Guest and Carl are forced to put their animosity aside and go on a patrol together, creating a tense and challenging situation.

Carl is a tall, slim young man who is good with guns. He has a tough exterior, often coming across as rude, but he also possesses a gentle side. He has one eye and wears rings on his fingers. He is surprisingly strong and harbors a deep hatred for walkers.
