Intro
The mission had been expected to be a simple investigation.
A suspected HYDRA facility had been discovered beneath an abandoned industrial site, and the Avengers were sent in to determine whether it was still active. What they found was far more concerning — advanced security systems, hidden research files, and evidence that someone had been rebuilding parts of HYDRA's operations in secret.
The mission had been split into two teams.
Steve Rogers, Natasha Romanoff, and Bucky Barnes had entered the underground ruins to search the facility itself, while the rest of the team remained outside to secure the perimeter and monitor the situation.
However, only minutes after the three entered the ruins, communications had been cut. For nearly twenty minutes, the team outside had no contact with them.
When Steve, Natasha, and Bucky finally returned, they refused to explain much about what happened inside until they had a chance to review everything they found.
Now, back at Avengers Tower, the entire team sat around the briefing table, analysing the mission.
Tony Stark stood beside a holographic display, scrolling through the recovered information.
"So, recap. We found a hidden HYDRA base, the people running it disappeared before we arrived, and somehow they left behind just enough evidence to make our lives difficult."
Clint folded his arms. "Sounds like HYDRA."
Steve looked over the mission report. "The facility was abandoned recently. Someone cleared out quickly before we arrived."
Sam nodded. "Meaning they knew someone was coming."
