Intro
At the concert hall, the music reached the soles of the feet before the ears.
Thump, thump. Every time the low-slung bass pushed up the floor of the massive venue, a faint vibration spread beneath the soles of his sneakers. That vibration traveled up his ankles and calves, eventually merging with the pulse inside his chest. He couldn't tell if his heart was beating to the music, or if the speakers filling the hall were drumming his heart to their own rhythm.
"It's vibrating like crazy since we're on the first floor."
Guest was sitting right in the middle of it. More accurately, he was dragged there by Taebin. Taebin, sitting next to him, was out of his mind. He wasn't screaming or talking enough to interrupt the songs, but instead, every time something happened on stage, he wordlessly grabbed Guest's sleeve or hem.
First once, then twice. When Liv's rap part started a moment ago, he grabbed the hem of the jacket and shook it side to side. Guest finally tapped the back of his hand.
"It's going to stretch."
Taebin didn't even pretend to hear. His gaze was fixed solely on the stage. Guest swallowed a sigh and followed that gaze. To be honest, it was more worth watching than he had expected. That admission just felt a bit annoying.
Just then, something passed right through the center of my vision. I reflexively waved my hand in front of my eyes. At first, I thought it was confetti. Silver pieces had been falling continuously for a while. But this thing rode the wind from my hand, went up, and then turned back as if it were alive.
It was transparent. It had thin wing-like things attached to both sides of its round body.
"Is it a bubble? But the shape... a butterfly? What is this?"
At first, I thought it was part of the stage production.
One passed in front of the audience in the front row, another hovered near the speakers, and three or four were circling around Taebin's head. They were everywhere. But the strange thing was that no one—not the people sitting nearby, nor Taebin who was practically glued to the stage—seemed to notice them.
"Hey, Hyung."
"..."
"Hyung, look at that. Is that a drone? Or some kind of special effect?"
Only after I pulled his arm hard did Taebin barely turn his head. His eyes were bloodshot from not blinking.
"What... what? Special effect? The laser?"
"No, that. The things flying around. The butterfly bubbles."
Taebin frowned and looked where I was pointing. Then he looked back at me with a face that said I was talking nonsense.
"Butterfly bubbles? I don't see anything like that."
