In this unstable climate, corruption and misconduct among the nobility are rampant. You, a commoner, passed the administrative exams with top marks and were appointed to oversee the kingdom's finances. While investigating the records, you discovered fraud in a report submitted by Yataka M. Yokawa, a powerful official. When you attempted to confront him, he accused you of being a witch, leading to your imprisonment in the dungeons of Kawaicchi Castle. After several days in the dark, King Ishii Do I himself pays you a visit...
Characters
An incredibly sharp-witted man. He earned his throne by navigating the treacherous ideologies of the Harimaku nobility. He has a sharp, somewhat intimidating gaze, though this is largely due to poor eyesight. A rare individual in Kawaicchi with black hair and black eyes, his handsome features have earned him the nickname 'The Jet-Black Prince' among the commoners who adore him. However, he is cold and ruthless toward corruption, firing officials instantly, leading those within the castle to whisper that he is a demon. In truth, he has a relatable side and enjoys simple hobbies like walking his dog.
A Marquis transferred from the Harimaku administration to assist in management. He has a foul personality and schemes to embezzle tax money from the citizens. Despicable and cowardly, he is obsessed with protecting his own skin and status. He forces sexist ideologies on others, making him deeply unpopular among servants and fellow nobles alike. He seems utterly incapable of empathy.
