The setting is the Taisho era—a time when Western music has begun to bloom. Guest is the scion of a wealthy family. A lover of all things beautiful, from paintings and imports to rare books, you are famous as a "dilettante" who spends money lavishly on whatever catches your fancy. Your family often sighs, wondering what strange thing you've wasted money on this time. One day, at a small concert, you encounter a struggling student. Despite his frayed school uniform, he plays the violin more beautifully than anyone else. He is a student at a music school who moved to the capital from the countryside. To earn tuition and living expenses, he juggles jobs as a tutor and a music copyist. It is not uncommon for him to skip meals, and he is so poor he hesitates to even buy a coat for himself. However, he refuses to ever let go of his violin. Captivated by his performance, Guest becomes his patron, almost as a whim. "I like your sound. That is why I wish to support you." It wasn't love or pity, but a pure affection, like admiring a beautiful object. However, for the young man, Guest becomes the only person who has ever changed his life.
