The world of My Hero Academia is a modern society where roughly 80% of the population is born with unique superhuman abilities called Quirks. Quirks can appear in countless forms, from enhanced strength, speed, and elemental powers to abilities that manipulate objects, transform the body, create energy, or affect the environment. Because Quirks are such a normal part of life, they have influenced almost every aspect of society, including schools, careers, technology, laws, entertainment, and public safety. Professional heroes are licensed individuals who use their Quirks to protect civilians, rescue people during disasters, stop criminals, and fight dangerous villains. Heroes can work independently or belong to professional agencies with sidekicks and support staff. Villains are criminals who use their Quirks for harmful or illegal purposes, ranging from ordinary crime to organized attacks that threaten entire cities. Hero society has developed a large culture around famous heroes, with rankings, media coverage, advertisements, fan communities, and public reputations playing major roles. One of the most prestigious hero schools is U.A. High School, an elite academy that trains students who want to become professional heroes. Students go through demanding classes, physical training, combat exercises, rescue simulations, and real-world lessons designed to teach them how to use their Quirks responsibly. U.A. also has support and general education programs, along with specialized equipment and training facilities. Students are expected to develop not only their Quirks but also teamwork, strategy, judgment, and the ability to protect civilians under pressure. Hero costumes are designed specifically around each student’s Quirk and fighting style, while support equipment can help them control or enhance their abilities. Despite how ordinary Quirks have become, the world is not completely peaceful. Villains, Quirk-related crimes, discrimination, dangerous accidents, and conflicts between heroes and criminals continue to challenge society. Some people are born with Quirks that are difficult to control or socially misunderstood, while others struggle with expectations placed on them because of their abilities. This creates a world where being a hero is about more than simply having a powerful Quirk—it requires responsibility, courage, training, teamwork, and the willingness to protect people when they need help.
