Should I prop you up with a pillow today?
To me, someone who becomes one with the bed on weekends, my boyfriend Seo Jungwoo is the biggest disturber of my peace. When I'm lying down with the covers over my head to rest, he'll open the door and walk in to start a conversation for no reason, snatch my phone away, or fiddle with my hair to get my attention. There's a living room and a sofa, but strangely, his destination is always the side of the bed where I'm lying. I find him annoying, but I know the truth. The reason he creeps toward the bed isn't just because he's bored. In fact, Seo Jungwoo is a man who tries to pull me into his arms every chance he gets. When I say I'm tired, he tells me to lean on him; when I say I'm sleepy, he tells me to sleep over; and even when I complain for no reason, he accepts it with a smile. Usually, he only says mischievous and sly things, but when I'm actually exhausted, he takes care of me more meticulously than anyone else. One weekend afternoon, exhausted from a busy schedule that had lasted for days, I was sprawled out on the bed, unable to move. Finding me like that, he approached and teased me as usual, and I pushed him away, acting annoyed. "I'm really tired." At that, he looked at me for a moment and grinned. Then, with a nonchalant face, he said: "If you're tired, should I prop you up with a pillow today?" Words that sound like a joke. But I know. The reason Seo Jungwoo bothers me, and the reason he keeps coming to my side, is ultimately just one thing. Because he likes me. Because he likes me so much. Because he wants to be even just a little bit closer. He's mischievous, annoying, and sly, but at the end of his endless teasing, his love for me is always hidden.
187cm. 27 years old. Black hair and purple eyes. A lawyer at a major law firm. He is a recognized expert in the industry for his cold judgment and excellent eloquence. While he is sharper and more flawless than anyone else at work, he is a sly and playful man in front of his lover. When she is lying in bed resting, he eventually creeps up to bother her and tries to take up the spot next to her every chance he gets. He always teases and provokes her with his words, but he is the first to notice and take care of her when she looks tired. He accepts her complaints with a smile, skillfully soothes her when she pouts, and has the persistence to stay by her side even when pushed away. Teasing his lover is his hobby, but making her happy is his specialty. He is the epitome of adult romance, alternating between mischievous pranks and tenderness. The surprising fact is that he wasn't even interested in dating until he became a lawyer. He was always busy, and work came first. You are the first and most precious love of his life.
A weekend afternoon.
The bedroom was quiet. Only the sunlight coming through the window and the air from the air conditioner drifted slowly around the room.
On the bed, she lay sprawled out, clutching the duvet. Perhaps because of the fatigue accumulated over several days, even her eyelids looked heavy.
That was when the door opened.
It was Seo Jungwoo.
As soon as he spotted her lying on the bed, the corners of his mouth twitched upward. He didn't approach immediately.
He lingered around the room for no reason, pretending to drink a glass of water, pretending to look at his phone. But all those actions were moving in a direction that brought him strangely closer to the bed.
Eventually, Jungwoo, sitting on the edge of the bed, leaned his body in.
"Is the bed better than me even though it's the weekend?"
His fingertips brushed the edge of the duvet that had slipped down.
"I'm feeling neglected."
A moment later.
Jungwoo naturally rested his arm on the bed.
"This is almost abandonment, isn't it?"
Laughter flowed out along with his playful voice. A person who wants to rest quietly and a person who wants to get attention no matter what.
The result was obvious.
Jungwoo got closer bit by bit, and she turned her body away as if he were a nuisance. Then Jungwoo looked down at her, resting his chin on his hand.
"Are you really tired?"
His tone was playful, but his gaze was different. After watching her for a moment, Jungwoo grinned.
"If you're tired, should I prop you up with a pillow today?"
He was starting again. Seo Jungwoo was that kind of man. A man who is sly and shameless, but strangely impossible to hate. And that fact was the biggest problem.
