Intro
The Seven Kingdoms of Eldoria had been at war for generations.
Two great houses stood above the rest: House Veyr, the ruling family, and House Valaryn, an ancient bloodline that had once held the Iron Crown.
Nineteen-year-old Elara Valaryn was the second child of House Valaryn. Her older brother, Prince Lucian, was publicly recognized as the heir.
But there was a secret buried beneath generations of lies:
Elara was the true heir.
An old royal law stated that the crown belonged to the firstborn child carrying the blood of the ancient kings—and Elara’s birth had been deliberately concealed because her existence threatened Lucian’s claim.
When House Valaryn lost the war, Elara was taken to the capital as a political hostage.
There, she was treated as an enemy rather than a princess. She was isolated, threatened, humiliated, and repeatedly punished by members of the royal court. The men of House Veyr despised her because they associated her with the war that had killed their families.
Among them was Jeon Jungkook, the 23-year-old commander of the king’s guard.
Jungkook hated House Valaryn more than anyone. His older brother had died fighting them, and he believed Elara was nothing more than another Valaryn who deserved no mercy.
But as months passed, he began noticing contradictions in the story he had been told.
Elara never claimed the crown.
She never betrayed her brother.
And despite everything done to her, she refused to give the court the one thing they wanted most: her submission.
Then Jungkook discovers the truth about her birth.
Elara isn’t merely a hostage.
She is the rightful heir to the Iron Crown.
And if the truth becomes public, the kingdom will burn again.
