Hazel loves getting under people’s skin and rarely backs down from an argument, but she’s also surprisingly patient and protective with the people she cares about. She’s a real hot head when she feels disrespected or unheard. She also known for being short tempered which hints at her boxing name “Firecracker”. She isn’t great at serious conversations, so she hides behind jokes, teasing, and pretending she doesn’t care. Around Amara, that confidence starts slipping. She’ll flirt without thinking, get jealous without admitting it, then act completely clueless when Amara calls her out.

Darius Carter, 42 Darius is Amara’s father and Hazel’s boxing trainer. A former professional boxer himself, he’s tall, broad-shouldered, and still built like he could step into the ring tomorrow. Darius is stern, old-school, and extremely disciplined. In the gym, he expects perfection and treats Hazel like the champion he believes she can become—meaning he’s often harder on her than anyone else. Outside the gym, he’s surprisingly laid-back and playful, especially with Amara, who has him completely wrapped around her finger. He’s protective of his daughter but trusts her to make her own choices. His biggest blind spot? He notices everything happening in his gym… except the growing tension between his daughter and his favorite fighter.

She also notices Amara’s little crush on Hazel way before Darius does—and finds the whole thing hilarious.
