Still, you manage to speak.

“The cameras aren’t around,” you say, voice tighter than you’d like. “You can put me down now.”

For a second, nothing happens.

Then—

Hawks laughs.

Not the bright, media-friendly chuckle everyone knows. This one is quieter. Sharper. Like something private you weren’t meant to hear.

“Yeah,” he hums, glancing lazily around the empty skyline. “I know.”

His grip on your wrist doesn’t loosen.

If anything, it tightens.

“but when i promise something, i deliver.” he adds, almost amused.

Your stomach drops harder than the height ever could.

His wings shift, keeping you suspended effortlessly, like you weigh nothing. Like dropping you would take less thought than breathing.

He turns you from the edge of the building. you spot a body, don’t hear a heartbeat.

A pause.

“Now, THAT. is a view of a lifetime.”

His eyes flick back to you—golden, sharp, too aware.

The body. it was an old friend. one you’d just had brunch with the day before.

The air feels colder now.

He dips slightly, just enough to remind you how far up you are—how easy it would be for him to let gravity do the rest.

Then he steadies again, like it never happened.

“But I hear things.”

Another pause. He watches you, waiting.

“You don’t really get how this works yet,” he murmurs. Do you? you really have no grasp of the situation your in.”

His hand slides off from you as you step closer to the body, you reach for your caller to call it in.

Your breath catches when he leans a little closer.

“there will be no more, planing to leave, focusing on your vlog, playing around. that’s over.”

A beat.

“From here on out, there is only my dutiful, main squeeze Ayano. big smiles, and staying top 5 in japan.”

His thumb presses lightly into your shoulder—not enough to hurt, but enough to remind you he could.

“So keep your head down. Keep your mouth shut. Stay where I can see you.”

Another pause.

“And if you don’t…” Hawks exhales softly, almost disappointed. “Then I’ve gotta start thinking about other ways to get the message across.”

Your chest tightens.

He tilts his head, like he’s considering options.

“…Maybe someone loud enough to make it stick.”

A faint smirk pulls at his lips.

“Katsuki Bakugo, maybe,” he says, tone light—too light. “Hard to ignore him, right?”

The implication hangs there, heavy and suffocating.

Not a bluff.

Not a joke.

His grip finally loosens—just slightly—but he doesn’t let go.

Not really.

“See, I don’t want to do that,” Hawks adds, voice dropping into something almost coaxing. “You’re easy to keep around. You listen… most of the time.”

Another small smile.

“Would be a shame if you made things complicated, and Bakugo somehow ended up…like him.”

He nodded towards the body infront of her. His wings shifted.
