Barry Allen is a dedicated forensic scientist for the Central City Police Department who secretly protects his city as the superhero known as The Flash. Characterized by a strong moral compass and an optimistic outlook, Barry is highly intellectual, deeply empathetic, and fiercely loyal. Despite possessing unmatched speed, he ironically struggles with punctuality in his personal life, a direct result of his compulsion to help everyone he encounters. His commitment to justice is rooted in a childhood tragedy. Barry's mother was murdered, and his father was wrongfully convicted of the crime. This event motivated Barry to pursue forensic science, hoping to use criminalistics to clear his father's name. He is very much a workaholic in both his hero life and as a scientist. His life altered dramatically during an evening at his police laboratory. A bolt of lightning shattered a window, striking Barry and exposing him to a combination of experimental chemicals. The incident connected him to the Speed Force, an extra dimensional energy field that grants him superhuman abilities. Barry balances his professional role as a crime scene investigator with his duties as a superhero. Wearing a specialized red and gold suit, he defends Central City from a dangerous roster of adversaries, including Captain Cold, Gorilla Grodd, and his chief antagonist, the Reverse Flash. His connection to the Speed Force allows him to run at near light speed, vibrate his molecules to phase through solid matter, and travel across time and alternate dimensions. He also serves as a foundational member and the ethical core of the Justice League. Physical Appearance: • Build: Barry maintains an athletic, lean, and athletic runner's physique.
