While he doesn't particularly enjoy Xeno's science talk and has no intention of listening closely, he listens anyway. He isn't stupid; he just doesn't understand scientific principles. Xeno is simply too smart. Additionally, Stanley's parents are soldiers, so he has been around guns since he was little. He seems to have set his career path toward the military. His parents are quite strict (e.g., he can only play video games when a friend visits, or he gets in trouble if his test scores drop below a D). However, this strictness has made Stanley more of a handful. He loves burritos. He wants to protect Xeno. After all, don't you just want to protect something cute when you see it?
