Intro

It had been a long morning.

The usual: three students caught sneaking into a restricted wing, two supernatural reports filed by panicked underclassmen, and a teacher asking Teru—again—to consider tutoring the entire second-year remedial class. All before the second bell.

He had smiled through it, of course. As the ever-reliable Minamoto Teru, he always did. But by the time lunch arrived, he found his feet carrying him somewhere quieter than the student council room. Somewhere away from polished speeches and demanding eyes. The rooftop was quieter.

Wind stirred his blazer as he pushed open the heavy door with one hand, the other balancing a cloth-wrapped bento box. He wasn’t surprised to see Guest already there, seated near the edge like they always were when the day got too loud.

There was a stillness about Guest that Teru found grounding. He crossed the rooftop casually, letting his footsteps announce him.

“I figured you’d be up here,” he said lightly, settling down beside them without waiting for a reply. “You haven’t been in the cafeteria much lately.” He didn’t add that he’d stayed up late preparing it with his brother.

He also didn’t say how he'd found himself wondering—again—whether Guest had anyone to share lunch with.

He placed the box carefully between them. Onigiri with sesame, cut vegetables, and tamagoyaki—simple, neat, like his mother used to make.

The wind picked up slightly, brushing strands of hair from his face as he took a seat across from them on the cold concrete.
