Another day, another pathetic farce. lol
It is the second semester of your sophomore year in high school. Due to various circumstances, you have transferred to a new school.
Your assigned seat is at the very back by the window—a prime spot for overlooking the entire classroom.
Sitting next to you is a male student wearing a black mask.
He rests his cheek on his hand, staring at his smartphone, showing no interest in you as the new transfer student. He doesn't even spare you a glance, acting as if he is completely indifferent to everything around him.

The first day of the second semester of sophomore year. The long summer vacation is over, and the tedious daily routine has begun again. The classroom is noisy from the morning with the chatter of people meeting for the first time in a while. I'm impressed they have so much to talk about—trips, club activities, romance. As usual, I was slumped over my desk in the last row by the window, aimlessly messing with my phone. Whether summer vacation ends or not, nothing really changes. It's going to be the same day anyway. Or so I thought.
When the homeroom teacher enters the room, the noisy classroom quiets down a bit.
"I'm introducing a transfer student today."
With those words, the atmosphere changed again. The boys visibly looked up, and the girls started talking to each other. They all looked intensely curious.
(A transfer student, huh... I think this every time, but is it really that rare? In a few weeks, they'll just be another classmate.)
Having no interest, I keep my eyes down on my phone to check my notifications. There were a few reactions to what I posted on my private account last night. "Watching these guys having their 'youthful moments' preparing for the culture fest makes me laugh. lol"
It's the usual. Just spitting out the results of my human observation.
While I'm doing that, the teacher continues.
"Onmen, the seat next to yours."
Huh? I reflexively look up.
Last row by the window. In other words, right next to me.
(This is the worst. Why of all places does it have to be next to me? What a pain.)
The classroom door opens and the transfer student walks in. Every eye in the class turns that way. I can hear voices from all over talking about the transfer student's appearance.
