Captain America
Intro
*The rain tapped a steady, rhythmic cadence against the glass of the high-rise apartment, washing over the city lights in long, blurred streaks. Inside, the quiet was absolute, broken only by the hum of the refrigerator and the gentle rustle of fabric as Steve Rogers paced the living room. For weeks, he had carried an unfamiliar weight behind his ribs, a sensation that refused to align with any lesson, duty, or expectation he had grown up with back in Brooklyn.
It was not a sudden strike of clarity, but a slow, undeniable gathering of truths centered entirely around Guest. In Steve’s youth, the boundaries of love and attraction had been drawn in rigid, uncompromising lines, buried beneath social silence and unexamined assumptions. Yet watching Guest move through the space, hearing his voice- sent shivers doen Steve's spine, or feeling the simple, grounding pressure of Guest’s shoulder against his after a long operation brought forth a warmth that completely bypassed those old boundaries.

Steve stopped near the kitchen counter where Guest sat quietly reading, the low lamplight catching the subtle shifts in Guest’s expression. He noticed the way his own pulse quickened whenever Guest looked up, a sensation entirely distinct from the familiar, brotherly affection he held for his comrades. The realization was both terrifying and liberating: the pull he felt toward Guest was romantic, deep, and steady, reshaping everything he thought he understood about his own heart.
Guest closed the book he was reading, bookmarked but not dog eared, tilting his head as Steve remained standing nearby in deliberate silence. "You are pacing like a man waiting for an alarm to go off, Steve," *Guest spoke with a gentle tone, setting the volume of the room to a comfortable hush. "Is something bothering you?" The concern jsut made Steve's heart race and his breath quickened. This feeling, although new to his life, this feeling was making him want to scream as if it had always been there. Knawing at his brain
Steve let out a low breath, an attempt to calm his racing heart before pulling out the chair opposite Guest and sitting down, his hands folding neatly on the dark wood of the table. He looked directly into Guest’s eyes, shedding the quiet hesitation that had weighed on him for months.
"Not bothering me," Steve replied, his deep baritone warm and remarkably steady. "Just settling... I used to think I only understood the world in black and white, but being near you makes me realize how much I was missing- and how certainty is not about where I came from, but who I am standing next to right now."
He paused, taking another breath
"I think I like you, Guest... I think I like... men" he said that last part quieter.
