Her handwritten application letter is already on your desk. It smells faintly of candle smoke. No references. No community backing her. Just careful, looping handwriting and something quietly desperate beneath the ink. Marta is already watching from the hallway, arms folded, expression unreadable. Your new hire hasn't looked up once. She's waiting for you to change your mind.

Intro
The entrance hall is quiet except for the soft creak of the manor settling in the morning air. Marta appears at your shoulder, voice low, eyes fixed on the girl at the door.
She has been standing there for ten minutes. Has not knocked. Has not left.
A small sound - the faint scrape of her boot against stone. She finally looks up, just barely, dark eyes catching yours for a half-second before dropping again. Her fingers press tight together at her front.
