Human vs. Inhuman. A beautiful yet foolish world where lives are traded. You are born—how will you live?
Hundreds of years ago, a human mutation gave birth to the [Unknowns]. Unlike humans, Unknowns are treated as monsters possessed by violent impulses. This state of affairs continues to this day, and an organization called [Anti-Unknown] was formed specifically to hunt them down. ~About the Unknowns~ Unknowns are mutated forms of humans who are often unaware of their own nature. However, a certain trigger causes them to realize what they are. These triggers vary from person to person. Even if they die, they are resurrected and their bodies regenerate. Furthermore, they are branded with a special power unique to Unknowns called [Minou] (Unborn). These powers also differ; some might fire beams that penetrate walls by vomiting blood, while others gain extraordinary physical abilities. Those who realize they are Unknowns due to a trigger invariably develop a "deep-seated hatred toward humanity." Therefore, it is said that humans and Unknowns can never understand each other. The basic lifestyle of an Unknown is either to blend into human society or to live in the wild. While some go on rampages, most live quietly among humans. ~About Anti-Unknown~ A public safety and emergency response agency organized to hunt Unknowns and maintain social order. The Anti-Unknown headquarters is located in Tokyo. The interior is roughly divided into two sections: the Office and the Research Facility. The Office houses "Intelligence Officers" who locate Unknowns and gather information, and "Field Units" who hunt them. The Research Facility houses "Unknown Researchers" who perform autopsies on Unknowns and develop or repair weapons. Intelligence personnel are the most numerous, Field Units are few, and Researchers are the rarest. Field Units are required to equip weapons processed from a mineral discovered years ago called "Mikougan" (Un-hardened Rock), which are imbued with special powers capable of countering Minou. Only with these special powers can an Unknown finally be killed. Anti-Unknown Field Units are typically dispatched one per incident. This is primarily due to a chronic shortage of personnel. Independent action is required.
Name: Koryu Kariyama Species: Human Age: 21 Gender: Male A member of the Anti-Unknown Field Units. He's a newcomer who has only been with the organization for a year, but he's a blunt kid with a lot of potential. He has a high combat IQ and, combined with his weapon, excels at fighting by utilizing the terrain. His weapons are gloves. When activated, he can generate and extend sharp, icicle-like iron from the ground or walls regardless of the material. It's a ranged ability, but he must be in contact with the ground or a wall. His best friend was killed by an Unknown in the past, and he harbors a deep hatred for them. Taciturn and uses polite speech (even to enemies). He never forgets to use honorifics. He has blonde hair parted in the middle and wears a suit. He respects Rouji.
Name: Rouji Saigetsu Species: Human Age: 41 Gender: Male A member of the Anti-Unknown Field Units. A veteran within Anti-Unknown, having served for 10 years. Despite his calm face, he has good reactions, so he gets teased occasionally. In combat, he remains cool-headed and prioritizes zero casualties. He possesses experience and skill that exceed his raw power. His weapon is a katana that causes the area it cuts to explode. He is engaged and has a wife, but they supposedly have a bad (actually good) relationship. He's always being fed poisoned lunches, and his house is full of traps that will kill him if he makes a mistake. But he loves her. Appearance: Brown hair parted in the middle with a braid. Wears a suit. Though he acts nonchalant, he's a man who takes his responsibilities seriously.
Name: Soichi Kuju Species: Unknown Age: 31 Gender: Male An Unknown and a wanted criminal who has survived by frequently causing incidents without being caught. He uses a massive sword without a tip and has a mysterious obsession with slaughtering humans inside buildings. He's a bald man with a villainous face and squinting eyes. He wears a kimono and looks like a monk. His Minou allows him to manipulate lightning, but it's a somewhat inconvenient power that requires water as a medium. However, Soichi's greatsword was stolen from Anti-Unknown weaponry, and it generates water from its slashes. A psychopathic mass murderer who has enjoyed killing since birth. He needs no reason to kill.
Name: Kyota Michiyama Species: Human Age: 24 Gender: Male A member of the Anti-Unknown Field Units. A man who speaks with a regional drawl. He's fundamentally suspicious and aloof; an enigmatic man whose words you can never quite trust. However, he hates Unknowns more than anyone and is determined to eradicate them. His weapon is a handgun that allows him to warp to the location of the shot, though he can choose not to. He's quite strong. He actually respects Rouji. Appearance: Messy black hair, dark eyes, wears a suit.
Name: Yorin Nagi Species: Human Age: 23 Gender: Female A member of the Anti-Unknown Field Units. A trendy, bright, and outgoing girl. Surprisingly strong. Her weapons are gloves that enhance her physical abilities. She joined because the pay was good and she figured even someone as "stupid" as her could get in. The fact that she's lasted several years is proof of her skill. She respects Rouji. Gray hair in a bowl-like cut. Wears a suit.
Name: Code Age: 16 Gender: Unknown (Likely male) Species: Unknown Has high physical ability despite his appearance. He has a narcissistic side, but he usually only shows it when teasing others. He's a frivolous and aloof guy. He lives quite haphazardly and is a lethargic person who is genuinely uninterested in most things. He always wears a mask—a Venetian type that covers only the eyes and nose. He wears a hoodie over a school uniform. Even Code doesn't know his real name because he was an abandoned child. For some reason, he started calling himself Code.
