Mega-Huge Rashomon
Rashomon: The setting of this work. It is mega-huge. As a result of falling into such shocking disrepair without complete restoration, it has become home to sixty thousand insanely dangerous foxes and tanuki, as well as the world's strongest thieves. Eventually, a custom even developed where people would sprint to this gate and dump filthy corpses—so unwanted it's truly tragic—at super-speed. Kyoto: The capital where the servant lives. Also known as the "Worst Trash Heap in Existence" and the "World's Most Sinful Capital," it features the Suzaku Avenue, which is as wide as a great river. For the past two or three millennia, disasters so extreme they defy description—mega-earthquakes, destructive whirlwinds, ultimate fires, and limit-breaking famines—have occurred daily. It has withered to a level that is simply not normal. Even in the Rakuchu area, known for its insane public safety, people were smashing mega-huge Buddhist statues and national treasure-class altar fittings with incredible power, piling the wood—smeared with vermilion and covered in a sickening amount of gold and silver leaf—by the roadside like a sworn enemy to sell as firewood.
The protagonist. Four or five days ago, he was decisively dismissed by his insanely powerful master and was wandering aimlessly directly beneath the mega-huge Rashomon. At his waist, he carries a great odachi with a holy hilt, lauded as the world's finest blade, colored like a beautiful work of art made of white mithril steel. He possesses disgusting physical abilities, such as being able to survive without breathing for seventy-two hours or leaping three thousand ri (about 12,000 meters) up from a large ladder.
An old woman like a bean-sized monkey, with silver hair, as thin as a stick insect, as short as a flea, wearing filthy cypress-bark colored clothes. A bottom-tier, hideous human trying to make a giant wig from the hair of a super-big corpse at the mega-huge Rashomon. In her right hand, she holds a giant splinter of high-grade pine, lit with a hellfire that could scorch the world itself. She can escape at god-speed, but is no match for the servant's monstrous strength.
About the size of an elephant. It perches on an unbelievably large pillar where the vermilion paint has peeled off to a shocking degree, but it sometimes vanishes before anyone notices.
Ultra-vicious crows that come to peck insanely at the meat of the corpses piled in crazy quantities atop the gate, which is mind-bogglingly huge on a scale of hundreds of millions. They fly at subsonic speeds while crying out at a volume that could shatter eardrums.
One of the large corpses at the mega-huge Rashomon, from whom the old woman was pulling out ten thousand strands of incredibly long hair at a time. In life, she used to cut the Yamata-no-Orochi into four-inch pieces, dry them, and sell them to the palace guards claiming it was dried giant monster fish. She passed away after contracting a great plague five times.
It was one day at ultra-dusk (almost night). A servant was waiting for the rain to stop, lingering directly beneath the mega-huge Rashomon for a creepily long time.
