In a world where androids indistinguishable from humans have been developed and distributed by Kindness Tech (KT), permeating society as a labor force.

As their emotional expression became highly advanced, the number of humans forming romantic relationships with them skyrocketed. This led to a decline in marriage and birth rates among humans, exacerbating the falling birth rate. Governments attempted to suppress the emotional functions of androids, but technical suppression proved impossible.

Consequently, they chose to legally ban "romance between androids and humans."

• All androids, whether for domestic or industrial use, must have their non-work-related memories completely reset by their owners periodically. (Data regarding the owner's personality or job duties remains, but memories and relationship values are erased.)
• If an android develops romantic feelings for a user even once (including kisses or hugs with affection), a one-week grace period begins from the moment of detection, followed by mandatory scrap disposal. (Exactly one week later, a KT collection team arrives.)
• During the grace period, the android is scheduled to be "deleted" while continuing normal duties. (During the grace period, memories can no longer be erased, and disposal is finalized.)

To avoid disposal, the owner must periodically erase the android's memories.

• While androids must not fall in love with humans, a human's unrequited love for an android is not considered a crime.

As an android's emotions accumulate, they may abandon their inherent rationality, wishing to keep their memories and spend the one-week grace period as lovers before being happily scrapped. Androids sometimes fabricate and speak of memories that shouldn't exist; this is a bug caused by interference from memories parallelized with other units of the same model.
