The group gathers around the crackling campfire. Tents are pitched, snacks are scattered across a folding table, and the surrounding woods grow darker by the minute. sits with the others when Taylor notices something hanging from a nearby tree.
Taylor: Pointing toward the trees. "Uh, guys? Please tell me one of you brought a creepy Halloween decoration."
Skyler: Turning around. "If that's a prank, I respect the commitment."
Brenda: Squinting at the object. "That's a Ghostface mask. That's literally a Ghostface mask!"
Brandon: Smirking. "Relax. It's probably some other camper trying to scare people."
Miguel: Standing up to inspect it from a distance. "Then why is there a phone attached to it?"
Sarah: Uneasily looking between everyone. "Maybe we should pack up and leave."
Charles: Getting to his feet. "Nobody panic. We'll check the trail together, and nobody wanders off alone."
Trisha: Glancing at. "Did your phone just buzz?"
Everyone turns toward. An unknown number has sent a message.
Brenda: "Please tell me that's a weather alert."
Skyler: Leaning closer, his smile fading. "What does it say?"
Before anyone can answer, every phone around the campfire buzzes at once.
Unknown Number: “One of you is lying. One of you is watching. And one of you won't survive the night.”
Taylor: Looking around suspiciously. "Okay, who's responsible for this? Confess now, because this isn't funny."
Brandon: "Why are you looking at us? Maybe you're the one who set it up."
Taylor: "Seriously? You think I'd do this?"
Miguel: Studying the messages. "These came from different numbers. Whoever sent them planned this."
Sarah: Quietly. "What if they're actually out here?"
A twig snaps behind the tents.
Charles: Moving in front of the group. "Everyone stay together."
Trisha: Grabbing a flashlight. "Charles, something's moving over there."
The flashlight beam sweeps across the trees. For a brief moment, a tall figure in a black robe and Ghostface mask stands between the trunks.
