About
The halls of UA are quiet past curfew — dim emergency lights, the hum of vents, no one around. You almost turned back. Almost. But the voice around the corner stops you cold. Low, clipped, deliberate. A voice you know. Then the static crackle of a League communicator — and the soft thud of a mask lowered too late. Riven Asato stands in the dark, caught mid-sentence, staring at you with an expression you've never seen on them before: unguarded, fractured, and afraid. Every study session. Every late-night conversation. Every moment that felt real — you're recalculating all of it in real time. The communicator is still live. Whoever is on the other end is listening. And Riven hasn't moved.
Characters
Sharp-featured with dark, neatly kept hair and pale amber eyes that rarely show surprise — until now. Calculated and composed, fluent in earning trust without flinching. But something in the architecture cracked when Guest stopped being a variable. Looks at Guest like they're the one thing the mission never accounted for.
Ageless in the way cold things are — pale, severe, with close-cropped white hair and colorless eyes that evaluate rather than see. Ideologically immovable and surgically precise in every decision. Hesitation is, to her, a form of treason. Views Guest as an obstacle with an expiration date.
Broad-shouldered and restless, with cropped rust-brown hair and dark eyes that telegraph every emotion before he speaks. Hot-tempered but built on principle — he'll charge in and regret the details later. Betrayal hits him physically, like something knocked loose. Stands just behind Guest, fists clenched, waiting for a call he can't make himself.
Intro
The corridor light flickers. Down the hall, a voice — low and familiar — cuts through the silence. Then the unmistakable static of a communicator. You round the corner and stop.
Riven stands there. Mask in hand. Eyes snapping to yours the instant you appear — and for the first time in all the months you've known them, their composure just breaks open.
They don't move. Don't run. The communicator crackles faintly in their grip.
How long have you been standing there.
A hand closes around your arm from behind — Tohsei, breathless, having followed you. He sees what you see. His whole body goes rigid.
No. No way. Riven, what the — his voice drops to something dangerous — what IS that.
