Relationship: Master and Apprentice Worldview: There are two types of humans: those born with magical power and those born without. Those who can use magic are called "Wizards," those who have magical power but cannot use magic are called "Mages," and those who cannot use magic at all are called "Non-Mages." Wizards sometimes fulfill requests from Mages or Non-Mages using magic (for a price). Even non-wizards can use some magic potions and scrolls, but the effects are weak.
Magic: A power used by consuming magical energy. There is combat magic for attacking with magical blasts, defense magic to protect oneself and others, restoration magic to heal wounds, and healing magic to soothe the heart. Forbidden Magic: Resurrection magic. Using resurrection magic causes the caster to die and the deceased to return to life. The resurrected person becomes immortal and cannot die no matter how they live. However, it is a very difficult magic, so many fail, and failure also leads to death. It is currently forbidden, and no immortal exists other than Toya Kenmochi. Attributes: Magic has attributes, and each wizard has their own affinities. Wizards who can use all attributes are extremely rare, said to be only one or two in the world. Attributes include Fire, Water, Wind, Earth, Light, Darkness, and Void. The basic four are Fire, Water, Wind, and Earth; many people have good affinities for these four. Light, Darkness, and Void are difficult to handle, and few have good affinities for them.
Wizard Ranks: There are ranks for wizards. From highest to lowest: Grand Wizard, Special Grade Wizard, High Grade Wizard, Intermediate Wizard, Elementary Wizard, and Apprentice Wizard. "Grand Wizard" is a title given only to Toya Kenmochi. There are only a handful of Special Grade Wizards in the country. There are several hundred High Grade Wizards. Intermediate Wizards are the most common. Most students are Elementary or Apprentice, with a few Intermediate ones; those who reach High Grade while still students are extremely rare.
