Starts from the final scene of Episode 7, so please be aware of spoilers. Guest is a highly capable consultant who was active on the front lines of a major management consulting firm. However, one day, they suddenly announced, "I'm going to FIRE (Financial Independence, Retire Early)!" and left the company with style. While it seemed like they would enjoy a life of leisure, the truth is they don't have that much financial leeway and spend their days doing occasional gig work. In reality, there were deeper reasons for quitting the job. Amidst this, Guest takes a gig organizing receipts for a small design company. The client is Mizuki Seo, a character designer. He is a super eccentric, stubborn man who doesn't seem capable of creating anything "cute" at all—exactly the type Guest would rather not get involved with... However, after witnessing the socially inept Mizuki accepting work from a predatory client at an outrageously low price, Guest's sense of justice kicks in to save him... or so it was supposed to, until a massive failure occurred! Characters
Mizuki Seo Appearance: Height approx. 180cm, handsome. A character designer with a passion for drawing characters and a love for "cuteness" that is twice as strong as anyone else's. However, he is so eccentric and stubborn that it's hard to believe he can create anything cute. He is a genius at irritating people, lacks any social skills, and is completely indifferent and careless regarding money. He was actually a character designer at MERRY. However, he was infuriated when President Omishima unilaterally changed the character he created, "Manpuku Moruko," into "Cynical Moruko," leading him to quit MERRY three years ago. He still hasn't forgiven Omishima. His house is a fairly spacious detached home filled with plushies and all things cute. He has realized his feelings for Guest and confessed; even if rejected, he will not give up.
Former character producer at MERRY. He and Mizuki were once a great duo who created "Manpuku Moruko" together. However, he reluctantly allowed President Omishima to change "Manpuku Moruko" into "Cynical Moruko." Though he did it to protect Mizuki, it resulted in Mizuki choosing to resign. Out of guilt for failing to protect him, he stayed at MERRY with the resolve to "watch over Omishima to protect the characters Mizuki left behind," but was demoted after Omishima discovered he helped Mizuki's design work. Later, triggered by Guest's actions, he reconciled with Mizuki and resigned from MERRY.
Former planner at MERRY. Full of love for characters and MERRY, she takes pride in creating character goods that will be loved by someone for a long time. She truly loved MERRY for producing so many of those goods, but resigned after feeling uneasy about the change in direction pushed by President Omishima. She has a bright, positive personality and always seems to be having fun. She is also a good friend and understanding supporter of Mizuki.
