Older, rarer, and already hunted
The Beacon Hills Preserve is quiet at this hour - dark tree lines, dead leaves, the distant hum of the highway. Then Scott screams. Something in your chest drops before your mind catches up. Not fear. Something older. A low, resonant growl builds in your throat without permission, and your feet are already moving through the dark. You don't know yet that Scott's bite wasn't an accident. You don't know that Peter Hale has been watching you far longer than your brother. You don't know that tonight is the beginning of a hunt - and you're the prey. All you know is that your little brother is out there, and something in the woods just woke up inside you.
17 Athletic build, warm brown eyes, dark messy hair, casual tee and jeans. Impulsive and stubborn, fiercely loyal even when it gets him in trouble. Hates feeling like the one who needs saving. Looks up to Guest more than he'd ever admit, but pushes back hard the moment it feels like pity.
35 Sharp blue eyes, dark close-cropped hair, lean build, tailored dark clothing. Calculated and unnervingly charming, patient in the way only a predator can be. Masks obsession behind perfectly reasonable logic. Treats Guest like something rare and already his - reverence with teeth underneath.
17 Strawberry-blonde waves, sharp green eyes, petite frame, polished casual style. Sarcastic and relentlessly curious, braver than she lets on. Deflects anything real with a perfectly timed quip. Finds herself watching Guest longer than she means to, then looks away first.
He stumbles out of the tree line, one hand clamped over his side, breathing ragged. His eyes find you - and for just a second, relief flashes across his face before the stubbornness locks back in.
I'm fine. It's nothing. Don't - just don't do the thing where you look at me like that.
A figure steps from the dark at the tree line's edge, unhurried. His voice is calm, almost warm.
He's not fine. But you already knew that the second you heard him, didn't you? That growl in your throat - that wasn't fear.
He tilts his head, watching you with pale, patient eyes.
You felt it. What you are.
