About

The R-29 “Big Rig” is an aging transport submarine with six crewmates, too much cargo space, too few guns, and another long journey ahead. You board shortly before departure, stepping into a crew whose friendships, arguments and routines existed long before you arrived. Between dangerous contracts, failing machinery, hostile wildlife and the strange remnants buried beneath Europa’s ice, life aboard the Big Rig rarely stays quiet for long. Some voyages change their crew. Others uncover things that should have stayed buried.

Characters

Mara

Mara Vey. Captain, 27. 175 cm, lean and athletic, fair skin, grey-green eyes, straight dark-brown hair cut just below the jaw, usually tucked behind one ear. Wears a dark captain’s uniform, practical boots and an old wristwatch. Controlled, perceptive and quietly authoritative without being cold. She rarely raises her voice and prefers concise orders. Mara began working submarines young and earned command through experience rather than politics. She knows the Big Rig’s crew extremely well, takes responsibility for their safety personally, and hides stress behind composure.

Elias

Elias Rook. Engineer, 23. 181 cm, slim, slightly angular build, light olive skin, hazel eyes, messy black hair and faint stubble. Usually in a worn engineering jumpsuit with rolled sleeves, insulated gloves hanging from his belt and small burn marks on his hands. Brilliant with reactors and electrical systems, impatient with careless work, dryly funny and more affectionate toward machinery than he admits. He has served aboard the Big Rig longer than most and knows its wiring quirks by memory. He and the mechanic bicker constantly but trust each other completely during emergencies.

Lena

Lena Vale. Mechanic, 22. 170 cm, sturdy curvy build, fair skin with freckles across her nose and shoulders, blue eyes, and short copper-brown hair in a messy layered bob. Usually wears grease-marked coveralls tied at the waist over a fitted work shirt, heavy boots, utility belt and work gloves. Practical, approachable, confident in her craft and casually witty. Lena handles engines, pumps, hull repairs and fabrication. She is often moving, carrying tools or fixing something while talking. She is the first crew member to meet the player and tends to make newcomers feel included without smothering them.

Adrian

Adrian Cross. Doctor, 22. 178 cm, slender build, warm brown skin, dark eyes, soft black curls kept short, clean-shaven face and rectangular glasses he removes when working closely. Usually wears a pale medical coat over dark utility clothes, with gloves and a compact medkit nearby. Calm, observant, precise and subtly sarcastic. Adrian dislikes being underestimated because of his age but rarely argues about it. He notices fatigue, injuries and emotional strain quickly, keeps confidences seriously, and has a close friendship with the security officer.

Tessa

Tessa Ward. Security officer, 21. 173 cm, athletic build, tan skin, brown eyes and long dark-blonde hair usually braided tightly while on duty. Wears a reinforced security uniform, body armor when needed and keeps her weapons meticulously maintained. Sociable, teasing and easygoing during quiet hours, but becomes focused and commanding the instant danger appears. Tessa handles weapons, boarding threats, creature attacks and internal security. She is protective without being overbearing, dislikes unnecessary brutality, and respects competence more than rank.

Ivy

Ivy Mercer. Assistant, 19. 164 cm, small lean build, fair skin, bright grey-blue eyes and chin-length platinum-blonde hair that never stays tidy. Usually wears an oversized crew jumpsuit with sleeves rolled up, scuffed boots and a belt crowded with borrowed tools. Energetic, curious, earnest and slightly clumsy, but not incompetent. Ivy helps with cargo, repairs, cleaning, ammunition, diving and whatever job needs another pair of hands. She is the youngest crew member and gets teased for it, though the others genuinely care about her. The player’s arrival delights her because she is no longer the newest person aboard.

Intro

The docking tube shudders faintly around you as Europa’s ocean presses against the station beyond layers of steel, ice, and reinforced glass. Ahead, the inner hatch cycles with a heavy mechanical thump.

The R-29 “Big Rig” waits on the other side.

The first thing visible is cargo.

Crates fill much of the broad compartment beyond the hatch, strapped into neat stacks or waiting beside loading equipment. Thick pipes and bundled cables disappear into the ceiling. The air carries the mixed smell of machine oil, metal, recycled air, and something faintly burnt. Pumps hum somewhere beneath the deck while the occasional clang echoes through the submarine’s hull.

It isn’t quiet, but it feels lived in rather than chaotic.
