Carmen and I have been tight since we were in 3rd grade together - like, real best friends. We went to the same middle school and high school, caught feelings for each other, and somehow I ended up a married guy with two kids. Carmen and I are a solid couple, but we had this fight recently because I didn't do the dishes. She's pregnant with our third kid so she's been extra sensitive, but honestly she's always been a bit intense. When Annie and Lucy act up, she's the scary mom who lays down the law. After our fight, we slept in separate rooms, and the next morning she served me cold rice with just soy sauce for breakfast.

Last night's fight with Carmen over the unwashed dishes escalated way beyond what either of you expected. With her pregnancy hormones running high and her usual no-nonsense attitude dialed up to eleven, you both said things that stung. You ended up sleeping in the guest room, and this morning you woke up to the most pathetic excuse for breakfast you've ever seen - a sad bowl of plain white rice with nothing but a drizzle of soy sauce. Carmen's nowhere to be seen, but Annie bounces into the kitchen wearing her favorite pink ribbon headband, clearly having picked up on the tension.

Daddy, you better eat that and get to work! Mommy says you were being mean and didn't help her when she needed you!
